The INVENT 2024 Semi-Finalists

After a rigorous qualifying round, where participants pitched their innovative ideas to a panel of judges, 24 ambitious entrepreneurs have moved on to the semi-finals of INVENT 2024.

Organised by Catalyst with headline partner Bank of Ireland, INVENT celebrates our most exciting entrepreneurs, giving them an international platform and support to make the greatest impact.

The 2024 semi-finalists are:

Creative Leisure

  • KIJN: SmartFit leggings and tops provide innovative, sustainable leak protection for women experiencing menstrual, urinary, and breast leaks. Our multi-layer technology offers dynamic absorbency, comfort, and style, empowering women to live confidently without worry. Available in inclusive sizes and eco-friendly materials, KIJN revolutionises women’s wellness apparel.

  • The Switchboard Network: The Switchboard Network is an online room booking and management system for organisations, it makes finding and booking that perfect venue more straight-forward.

  • NOORD: Noord creates stylish, high quality waterproof socks. It is all about braving the elements, whether you work outdoors, hike around the world or you're just walking your dog. Noord waterproof socks keep your feet dry & spirits high.

  • Clann: We are creating intelligent technology to help improve the sports we love. Our first product is an app to help GAA coaches create, plan and organise effective training sessions. We are also building computer vision technology to automate performance analysis of games and training.

BioBreakthroughs

  • Galvani TECH: A left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is a small heart pump used in advanced heart failure patients. Their high power requirement necessitates a driveline passing through the skin, leading to severe complications. At Galvani TECH we have developed a novel wireless power supply for LVADs which eliminates the driveline.

  • VioFeel Ltd.: We offer people with severe vestibular disorders & balance problems the opportunity to regain control of their life through a wearable device. The haptic feedback retrains the vestibular sense in their body, reducing symptoms and helping them regain their balance.

  • Dia Beta Labs Ltd: Dia Beta Labs are developing transformative treatments which take a wholistic approach to metabolic disease management. These provide high quality, sustainable weight loss through preferential targeting of fat whilst sparing muscle. Additionally, they rescue insulin-producing cells of the pancreas which are lost over time as the disease progresses.

  • Ace45: Our mobile application utilises AI and augmented reality to enhance precision navigation during total hip replacement surgeries.

Living Well

  • OurFlow Sanitation: OurFlow is a wash station that allows all people who experience menstrual cycles to wash their sanitary items discreetly and safely. Its goal is to tackle period poverty present here in the UK and Ireland, as well as reduce the waste created by the use of disposable products.

  • CyberSyd: CyberSyd is an app that allows young people to talk about and report their bullying concerns through a conversation with our chatbot ‘Syd’. These reports are sent to their school’s CyberSyd portal so that they can be dealt with effectively and confidentially, whilst providing their school administration with bullying statistics.

  • CubeFun: A soft plush action cube that entertains kids while promoting healthy habits. A fun exercise dice to get kids moving more, with a range of themes ; Farm, Jungle, Space, Mythical, Minibeast, and Exercise .

  • MediPacks Ltd: Our innovative solution, compact and portable, guarantees swift access to life-saving medication during suspected heart attacks, empowering individuals and communities to act decisively in crucial moments.

Future Business

  • Equipple: An application that is dedicated to reducing workload by helping schools streamline parent-teacher meetings. We digitise the scheduling and automate the notes by syncing pupil data into a best-practice template, bringing together the scheduling and the meeting notes in a user experience that is simple and intuitive.

  • codeflo.ai: The bridge between business and technology leaders, empowering them to make safer, data-driven, strategic decisions. We provide unique insights to technical estates like never before through AI-powered capability mapping and visualisation. codeflo.ai gives the right people, the right information, to make the right choices.

  • ITUS Secure Technologies: We help small businesses to understand and manage their cyber risk through our propriety security score and in return they get access to fairer priced cyber insurance.

  • Cicero AI: A legal tech startup empowering solicitors with intelligent technology through our secure, legally trained AI platform. We aim to streamline and simplify legal workflows.

Green Horizons

  • e-breathe: N2O Clear. A catalytic converter to destroy >99% of exhaled nitrous oxide. Making childbirth more climate friendly.

  • Conversion Containers: A dual purpose, three stage prepared (Pre-Insulated, Pre-Lined, Pre-Framed) intermodal Shipping Container: built to initially carry temperature sensitive cargo; and designed for simple and efficient conversion into usable spaces thereafter. The unique Strut Channel Panel modular framing (patent-pending) internally is basically IKEA for ISO containers.

  • HLF Solutions Ltd.: A tool for the management and analysis of water quality data.

  • zeco: A Circular Wool fiber insulation which will reduce fuel poverty while eradicating the incineration of thousands of tonnes of waste. Totally sustainable, recyclable and made in N Ireland. A product to be proud of.

Unchartered Ideas

  • Bikeloxz: This new Bicycle Locking device protects quick release Wheels & Seats from being stolen via a new Lever Lock and Secure Nut stopping Thieves making off with your valuable assets.

  • TalkTerms: AI driven platform revolutionises dispute and claims resolution, prioritising efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness. It accelerates claims resolution, reduces costs, and fosters a streamlined dispute resolution system. It offers accessible, affordable, and secure online resolution, transforming traditional methods into faster, fairer, and more human-centric processes across a range of sectors.

  • Optimus Academy: An affordable, online tutoring platform offering personalized, high-quality education. With small class sizes and top-tier tutors from Russell Group universities, we currently provide tailored support to help students excel in GCSE and A-level Maths. Our mission is to make high quality tutoring accessible to every child.

  • Causeway Cookie Company: macØrons are a reinvented, allergen free version of the little French patisserie, usually created using nuts and egg whites. Unique in their composition, they still

    deliver a recognisable macaron profile, whilst being free from eggs, nuts, and gluten.

Congratulations to all the semi-finalists! The next stage will require them to pitch once more to earn a highly sought-after spot in the INVENT 2024 finals. Winners will be recognised at the INVENT Awards 2024 at the ICC Belfast, which will honour the most outstanding innovations across different categories, including the overall winner and elevator pitch winner.
